CREMATE Mark Three Decades of Turmoil with the New Lyric Video for “Human”
CREMATE continue their resurgence with the release of the official lyric video for “Human,” one of the defining tracks from their latest EP Ready To Fight, out now through Wormholedeath. The song, originally written in the early 1990s, has been reimagined for a world where the boundaries between human emotion and digital machinery grow thinner by the day.
“Human” began as a raw outpouring of internal conflict, shaped by the anxieties and frustrations of the band’s early years. Three decades later, its themes feel even more pointed. The track reflects on how fear, pride, and contradiction now spill into the technology we build, raising questions about what remains of our identity when our emotional weight is absorbed by systems that can process information but cannot experience it.
CREMATE’s history is marked by intensity, disappearance, and revival. Formed in 1991, the band quickly earned a reputation for a harsh, unfiltered sound influenced by the European thrash movement. Their mid‑90s work, including the well‑known End of Time demo, secured their place in the Greek underground before the group stepped away and left a noticeable gap in the scene.
The story shifted again in 2021 when founding member Christos reignited the project. Joined by drummer George and guitarist/producer Akis Pastras, CREMATE returned with a renewed sense of purpose, revisiting their early material while embracing a darker, more contemporary edge.
The new EP, Ready To Fight, captures this balance between past and present. The four‑track release includes three reworked songs from the band’s early catalogue alongside a brand‑new title track featuring a guest solo from Marios Iliopoulos of Nightrage. “Die as You Lived” introduces an unexpected atmospheric layer with violin contributions from Lusty Apricot, adding depth without softening the band’s trademark aggression. Recording and mixing were handled by Akis Pastras, with mastering by George Nerantzis, known for his work with Rotting Christ and Abbath.
With “Human,” CREMATE underline the idea that the emotional struggles of the past remain just as relevant today, even as the world becomes increasingly digital. The lyric video offers a stark visual companion to a track that bridges three decades of creative evolution.
