review: stabbing – Eon Of Obscenity

bio

Houston’s STABBING have rapidly become one of the most ferocious voices in modern Brutal Death Metal. Formed in 2021 with a shared love for the savage sound of late‑90s and early‑2000s BDM, the band quickly carved out their own identity through relentless touring, razor‑sharp songwriting, and vocalist Bridget Lynch’s unmistakably extreme delivery.

Their rise accelerated during the 2023 Ancient Unholy Rising Tour, where Lynch briefly fronted Suffocation after Ricky Myers fell ill, earning widespread respect and attention. Soon after, Century Media brought the band into the fold as STABBING continued to dominate festival stages and U.S. tours.

Eon of Obscenity marks a major evolution from their early recordings. Guitarist Marvin Ruiz’s riffcraft pushes deeper into technical brutality, while Lynch expands her vocal range into truly inhuman territory. Tracks like “Rotting Eternal,” “Inhuman Torture Chamber,” and the instrumental “Ruminations” showcase a band sharpening every weapon in their arsenal. Recorded at Southwing Audio with a raw, unpolished production ethos, the album captures the intensity of classic death metal while pushing the genre forward.

For Lynch, one of the few women in extreme metal, the record also represents personal growth and a chance to challenge long‑standing norms within the scene. Her presence and perspective echo the inspiration she once found in Cerebral Bore and now hopes to pass on to younger fans.

With Eon of Obscenity, STABBING deliver on the promise of their early work and establish themselves as a defining force in the new wave of brutal death metal. Their impact is already being felt by emerging bands who cite the group’s early demos as a catalyst for their own beginnings.

review

I do not often venture into the territories of Brutal Death Metal but this is one of those tantalising bands that are an exception. I’d been hearing their name tossed around for a while, but the moment I finally pressed play and their filthy sound hit my ears, I was floored. The sheer force of their music was one thing, yet it was Bridget Lynch’s absolutely savage vocal brutality that left me genuinely stunned. And so when the Stabbing’s new album Eon Of Obscenity landed in my inbox I was just a tad excited to see what the band had to offer.

From the get go this album is absolute vicious carnage. Stabbing do not waste time getting to right into the thick of things. This putrid pile of meaty riffage and blast beats comes at you like a chisel to the knee caps. It hits hard and you know when it has struck. To begin, the guitar tones sizzle and spit with that grain and extra fuzz left to sear. The weighty production is something that only enhances the record helping to further reach its potential. And I have to highlight that if your someone who loves a good high pitched snare punching through the mix, your in for a treat!

For me, I go back to Bridget Lynch’s vocals which to me are a true highlight of this record. Every track delivery is like a blowtorch melting away your flesh. And personally I think she is one of the rising vocal talents in extreme metal. And when the scene is filled with so many vocalists that sound similar, it is refreshing to hear a vocalist who can bring something fresh and gripping. Have you ever heard a vocalist do stuff with their voice that sounds like a a dial up modem starting up? The flashes of this left a big surprised look on my face that is for certain.

Beyond the classic squeals, the trudging through the thick layers of rhythms (while battling napalm burning your being) the technical shifts in the playing will get you sucked In. The riff sequences from Marvin Ruiz that twist , turn and scale with the rolling drum and bass patterns (Aron and Matt) leave no moment to be bored. For instance the albums title track does this so well flitting between power and some melodic stints. Sometimes albums loose their direction but even around the half way mark this has still all the quality locked in. Ruminations (while short) and  Nauseating Composition featuring Ricky Myers are two of my album highlights. The insanity that can be heard on the second will leave you sweating like your being impaled while alive. The technical riff runs give you that nauseating feeling in your guts. And what a sheer delight it is. If you want to crank your speakers for a moment if you have not already, this is that moment. From the technical runs to the slow crawls this has it all. And even though the album is dripping in ferocity, it has its slower moments where the churning bass lines like on Symphony of Absurdity shine through and you can get catch a breath.

As the album came to a close with Sinking Into Catatonic Reality, I must say I am throughly Impressed. No track including the last failed to delivery a poor performance. Everything was a pleasure for the ear canals and album I will be putting on repeat for the days to come.

conclusion

Stabbing’s Eon Of Obscenity is masterpiece of brutal death metal shining in all its glory. From start to finish I felt like my skull had been smashed opened and my brain (and mind) had be consumed by a blood thirsty cannibal. In a nutshell this record scorched my mind and is certainly a band that is one to watch for 2026 and beyond. When this record arrives go and buy it, you will not be disappointed.
